  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing a grant for a pilot 
  1.3             year-round school program in independent school 
  1.4             district No. 911, Cambridge; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [TIME, TECHNOLOGY, AND THEMATICALLY ENHANCED 
  1.7   CURRICULUM SCHOOL PILOT PROJECT.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [ESTABLISHMENT.] A three-year pilot project 
  1.9   is established to allow independent school district No. 911, 
  1.10  Cambridge, to develop a time, technology, and thematically 
  1.11  enhanced curriculum school at the Minnesota center.  The purpose 
  1.12  of the project is to improve student achievement through 
  1.13  interdisciplinary instruction and year-round education.  For 
  1.14  purposes of Minnesota Statutes, section 126.12, subdivision 1, 
  1.15  the pilot program established in this subdivision is a flexible 
  1.16  learning year program under Minnesota Statutes, sections 120.59 
  1.17  to 120.67. 
  1.18     Subd. 2.  [REPORT.] Independent school district No. 911, 
  1.19  Cambridge, shall report on the pilot project to the education 
  1.20  committees of the legislature annually by February 1, beginning 
  1.21  February 1, 1996, and ending February 1, 1998. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.23     Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.] The sums 
  1.24  indicated in this section are appropriated from the general fund 
  1.25  to the department of education in the fiscal year designated. 
  2.1      Subd. 2.  [TIME, TECHNOLOGY, AND THEMATICALLY ENHANCED 
  2.2   CURRICULUM.] For a grant to independent school district No. 911, 
  2.3   Cambridge, for the pilot project under section 1:
