A bill for an act
relating to crime prevention and public safety;
repealing certain restrictions relating to part-time
peace officers; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004,
section 626.8465, subdivision 2; repealing Minnesota
Statutes 2004, sections 626.8465, subdivision 3;
626.8468, subdivision 1.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 626.8465,
subdivision 2, is amended to read:

Subd. 2.

Part-time peace officer license, restriction.

Subject to section 626.8468, subdivision 1,Any individual
licensed by the board as a part-time peace officer shall be
eligible for appointment or employment anywhere in the state as
a part-time peace officer but not as a peace officer unless the
individual meets board training and licensing requirements then
in effect for peace officers.

Sec. 2. REPEALER.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, sections 626.8465, subdivision 3;
and 626.8468, subdivision 1, are repealed.

Sec. 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.

Sections 1 and 2 are effective July 1, 2005.
