  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; allowing optional bidding 
  1.3             for vendors of senior meals; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1996, section 256.9752, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 256.9752, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4.  [BIDDING OUT FOR SENIOR MEALS.] If the Minnesota 
  1.10  board on aging implements a statewide bidding system for 
  1.11  seniors, local area agencies on aging may, at their discretion, 
  1.12  decide whether to implement the bidding procedure for all 
  1.13  current and potential vendors of senior meals for programs 
  1.14  funded under the Older Americans Act, United States Code, title 
  1.15  42, chapter 35, subchapter III, part C.
