  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to legislative districts; changing two 
  1.3             districts to reflect an annexation; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1996, section 2.123, subdivision 2. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 2.123, 
  1.7   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 2.  [HOUSE DISTRICTS.] Senate district 9 is divided 
  1.9   into two house districts as follows: 
  1.10     (a) House district 9A consists of that portion of Clay 
  1.11  County consisting of the city of Moorhead, Moorhead Township, 
  1.12  and those portions of Oakport Township surrounded by the city of 
  1.13  Moorhead.  Notwithstanding section 2.031, subdivision 2, house 
  1.14  district 9A does not include portions of Moorhead township 
  1.15  annexed by the city of Dilworth after the 1990 federal census 
  1.16  and before the effective date of this section. 
  1.17     (b) House district 9B consists of that portion of senate 
  1.18  district 9 not included in house district 9A. 
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.20     This act is effective the day following final enactment for 
  1.21  elections after the effective date.
