A bill for an act
 relating to Wabasha County; authorizing any city in
Wabasha County to build a jail and criminal justice
center; authorizing the Wabasha County sheriff to keep
office in a city outside the county seat.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

CENTER.

new text begin Jail and criminal justice
center. new text end

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 373.05, any
city in Wabasha County may build a jail and criminal justice
center to lease to Wabasha County to replace the current jail
located in the city of Wabasha.

new text begin Subd. 2.new text end [SHERIFF'S OFFICE.] new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota
Statutes, section 382.04, the sheriff of Wabasha County may keep
office in the jail and criminal justice center authorized under
subdivision 1 instead of in the county seat.

Sec. 2. new text begin EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.

new text begin Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
Under Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision 1, clause
(a), section 1 takes effect without local approval.
