  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education funding; authorizing an 
  1.3             accelerated payment of health and safety revenue to 
  1.4             independent school district No. 740, Melrose; 
  1.5             appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [HEALTH AND SAFETY REVENUE GRANT; MELROSE.] 
  1.8      $340,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2000 from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.10  learning for a health and safety revenue grant to independent 
  1.11  school district No. 740, Melrose.  The grant must be used for 
  1.12  the construction of a new school bus corral required by order of 
  1.13  the fire marshal.  The department must make a corresponding 
  1.14  adjustment to the district's health and safety revenue authority.
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1999.
