  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public employment; exempting essential 
  1.3             employees from any salary and wage rate freeze that 
  1.4             may be imposed by law. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [SALARY FREEZE EXEMPTION.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding any salary and wage rate freeze that may be 
  1.8   imposed by a law enacted during the 2003 legislative session, 
  1.9   essential employees, as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.10  179A.03, subdivision 7, are exempt from the freeze. 
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.12     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
