  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to community development; appropriating money 
  1.3             for specified projects in the city of St. Paul. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [CITATION.] 
  1.6      This act is the Great Northern Corridor Community 
  1.7   Development Act. 
  1.8      Sec. 2.  [LIVABLE COMMUNITIES DEMONSTRATION PROJECT.] 
  1.9      (a) The area of the city of St. Paul that is northeast of 
  1.10  Como Parkway and east of Dale Street, known as the North End 
  1.11  area, may be a livable communities demonstration project area.  
  1.12  The project must include a housing village with affordable and 
  1.13  life-cycle housing. 
  1.14     (b) $....... in fiscal year 1998 is appropriated from the 
  1.15  general fund to the metropolitan council for a grant to an 
  1.16  organization to develop affordable and life-cycle housing in the 
  1.17  area northeast of Como Parkway and east of Dale Street in St. 
  1.18  Paul.  This appropriation may be used as a match for a grant 
  1.19  from the metropolitan livable communities fund and is available 
  1.20  until June 30, 1999.
