  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; authorizing local 
  1.3             road authorities to issue annual overwidth permits for 
  1.4             certain snow plowing vehicles; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1996, section 169.86, by adding a subdivision.
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 169.86, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 1b.  [SEASONAL PERMIT FOR SNOW PLOWING VEHICLE.] A 
  1.10  local road authority may issue an annual permit to a person that 
  1.11  authorizes the person to operate on the road authority's streets 
  1.12  or highways a motor vehicle bearing a snowplow blade that when 
  1.13  deployed does not exceed ten feet in width.  The permit 
  1.14  authorizes operation of the vehicle between October 1 and April 
  1.15  1.  The fee for a permit under this subdivision is $60. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
