  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing the sale of 
  1.3             certain tax-forfeited lands bordering public waters in 
  1.4             Washington county to the city of Hugo.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LANDS; WASHINGTON 
  1.7   COUNTY.] 
  1.8      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45; 
  1.9   103F.535; and 282.018, subdivision 1, paragraph (a), and the 
  1.10  public sale provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, 
  1.11  Washington county may convey to the city of Hugo, without 
  1.12  consideration, the lands bordering public waters that are 
  1.13  described in paragraph (c) under the remaining provisions of 
  1.14  Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282.  
  1.15     (b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the 
  1.16  attorney general.  
  1.17     (c) The lands that may be conveyed are located in 
  1.18  Washington county, are designated by Washington county parcel 
  1.19  number 93030-2250, and are described as follows:  
  1.20     The West One-Half (W 1/2) of the Northeast Quarter (NE 1/4) 
  1.21  of Section 30, Township 31 North, Range 21 West, City of Hugo, 
  1.22  Washington County, Minnesota.  
  1.23     (d) The county has determined that the county's land 
  1.24  management interests would best be served if the lands described 
  1.25  in paragraph (c) were transferred to the city of Hugo to allow 
  2.1   improvements to Clearwater Creek, to make more effective use of 
  2.2   storage available on existing wetlands, to create several 
  2.3   regional ponding areas, to reserve areas for future recreational 
  2.4   uses including, but not limited to, nature parks and walking 
  2.5   trails, and to allow extension of various city streets.  
  2.6      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.7      Section 1 is effective the day following its final 
  2.8   enactment.
