  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the environment; repealing the hazardous 
  1.3             products labeling law; directing the office of 
  1.4             environmental assistance to include discussion of 
  1.5             hazardous product labeling requirements in its review 
  1.6             of the Waste Management Act; repealing Minnesota 
  1.7             Statutes 1996, section 115A.9523. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [REPORT ON WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT REVIEW; PRODUCT 
  1.10  LABELING.] 
  1.11     By January 20, 1998, the office of environmental assistance 
  1.12  shall report to the senate and house environment and natural 
  1.13  resources committees on its comprehensive review of the Waste 
  1.14  Management Act and make recommendations for any changes in the 
  1.15  law.  The report shall address options to improve waste 
  1.16  reduction and recycling programs and the integrated waste 
  1.17  management system, including whether additional product labeling 
  1.18  should be required for products sold in Minnesota which require 
  1.19  special disposal practices.  The report must discuss the extent 
  1.20  to which current authority under Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.21  115A.952 and 115A.956, can accomplish the objectives of 
  1.22  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 115A.9523. 
  1.23     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.24     Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 115A.9523, is repealed.
