  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime; appropriating money for grants to 
  1.3             allow local law enforcement agencies to assign 
  1.4             overtime officers to high crime areas within their 
  1.5             jurisdictions. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; PUBLIC SAFETY.] 
  1.8      $2,250,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.9   commissioner of public safety for the biennium ending June 30, 
  1.10  2001, for grants under Minnesota Statutes, section 299A.62, 
  1.11  subdivision 1, clause (2), to enable local law enforcement 
  1.12  agencies to assign overtime officers to high crime areas within 
  1.13  their jurisdictions.  These grants shall be distributed as 
  1.14  provided in Minnesota Statutes, section 299A.62, subdivision 2.
