  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor fuels; prescribing standards for 
  1.3             oxygenated gasoline; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, 
  1.4             section 239.791, subdivision 1, and by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 239.791, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [MINIMUM OXYGEN CONTENT REQUIRED.] A person 
  1.10  responsible for the product shall comply with the following 
  1.11  requirements: 
  1.12     (a) After October 1, 1993 1995, gasoline sold or offered 
  1.13  for sale in a carbon monoxide control area, and during a carbon 
  1.14  monoxide control period, must contain at least 2.7 3.5 percent 
  1.15  oxygen by weight. 
  1.16     (b) After October 1, 1995, gasoline sold or offered for 
  1.17  sale at any time in a carbon monoxide control area must contain 
  1.18  at least 2.7 3.5 percent oxygen by weight. 
  1.19     (c) After October 1, 1997, all gasoline sold or offered for 
  1.20  sale in Minnesota must contain at least 2.7 3.5 percent oxygen 
  1.21  by weight. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 239.791, is 
  1.23  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.24     Subd. 2a.  [EXEMPTION FOR PREMIUM GASOLINE.] Except as 
  1.25  required by federal law, premium gasoline, as described in 
  2.1   section 239.751, subdivision 4, sold or offered for sale is not 
  2.2   subject to the requirements of subdivision 1.
