  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state agencies; providing that state 
  1.3             agencies and local units of government need not 
  1.4             certify all pages of architectural and engineering 
  1.5             documents; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 
  1.6             326.12, subdivision 3. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 326.12, 
  1.9   subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 3.  [CERTIFIED SIGNATURE.] Each plan, specification, 
  1.11  plat, report, or other document which under sections 326.02 to 
  1.12  326.15 is prepared by a licensed architect, licensed engineer, 
  1.13  licensed land surveyor, licensed landscape architect, or 
  1.14  certified interior designer must bear the signature of the 
  1.15  licensed or certified person preparing it, or the signature of 
  1.16  the licensed or certified person under whose direct supervision 
  1.17  it was prepared.  Each signature shall be accompanied by a 
  1.18  certification that the signer is licensed under sections 326.02 
  1.19  to 326.15, by the person's license number, and by the date on 
  1.20  which the signature was affixed.  The provisions of this 
  1.21  paragraph subdivision shall not apply to documents of an 
  1.22  intraoffice or intracompany nature.  A government agency or 
  1.23  local unit of government need sign and certify only the title 
  1.24  page or first page of a document described in this subdivision. 
  1.25     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.26     Section 1 is effective on the day following final enactment.
