  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; making nonmining secondary 
  1.3             vocational programs more widely available; 
  1.4             appropriating money.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EXPANDING NONMINING SECONDARY VOCATIONAL 
  1.7   PROGRAMS; APPROPRIATING MONEY.] 
  1.8      The sum of $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund 
  1.9   in fiscal year 2002 to the commissioner of children, families, 
  1.10  and learning for independent school district No. 712, Mountain 
  1.11  Iron-Buhl, independent school district No. 706, Virginia, 
  1.12  independent school district No. 2154, Eveleth-Gilbert, 
  1.13  independent school district No. 2711, Mesabi East, independent 
  1.14  school district No. 2142, St. Louis County, and independent 
  1.15  school district No. 696, Ely, jointly, for providing new 
  1.16  nonmining secondary vocational programs that are delivered at a 
  1.17  post-secondary institution by high school or post-secondary 
  1.18  instructional staff and are available to secondary school 
  1.19  students for high school or post-secondary credit. 
  1.20     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2001.
