A bill for an act
relating to education; authorizing grants for collaborative urban educator
recruitment and training programs; appropriating money.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

The following sums are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of education in the fiscal years designated for grants to collaborative urban educator
recruitment and training programs:

$500,000 each year is for the Southeast Asian teacher program at Concordia
University, St. Paul; $400,000 each year is for the collaborative urban educator program at
the University of St. Thomas; and $400,000 each year is for the Center for Excellence in
Urban Teaching at Hamline University. Grant recipients must collaborate with urban and
nonurban school districts.
