A bill for an act
 relating to workforce development; providing funding for adult workforce
development initiatives; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ADULT WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COMPETITIVE GRANT
PROGRAM; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2018 is appropriated from the workforce development fund to
the commissioner of employment and economic development for the adult workforce
development competitive grant program. This is a onetime appropriation and is available
until June 30, 2020. Of this amount:

new text begin (1) $1,000,000 is for grants to organizations located in the seven-county metropolitan
area; and
 new text end

new text begin (2) $1,000,000 is for grants to organizations located outside of the seven-county
metropolitan area.

high-demand occupations.
