A bill for an act
relating to criminal justice; requiring government entities to obtain a search
warrant before hacking into a Web site; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 626A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a government entity, as defined in
section 626A.42, subdivision 1, may not obtain access to a Web site or records related to a
Web site that are not accessible to the public without first obtaining a search warrant.
