A bill for an act
relating to transportation; requiring Metropolitan Council to broadcast
announcements in light rail transit cars and stations in several languages;
appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 473.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

VEHICLES AND STATIONS.

new text begin Prerecorded announcements broadcast in light rail vehicles and stations must be
broadcast in a minimum of three languages. All announcements must be broadcast in
English and in the two non-English languages that are utilized by the greatest numbers of
individuals in the city through which the light rail vehicles are passing and the stations
are located.

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $500,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2016 from the general fund to the
Metropolitan Council in order to carry out the provisions in section 1.
