  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public administration; providing St. Paul 
  1.3             with additional authority in regard to the teacher 
  1.4             training institute; amending Laws 1994, chapter 643, 
  1.5             section 72. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1994, chapter 643, section 72, is amended 
  1.8   to read: 
  1.9      Sec. 72.  [TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTE; CITY OF ST. PAUL.] 
  1.10     The city of St. Paul may establish and maintain a an 
  1.11  education center and teacher training institute and related 
  1.12  activities that provides, but is not limited to, new models for 
  1.13  professional development for teachers.  The city may exercise 
  1.14  the powers granted in Minnesota Statutes, section 471.191, to 
  1.15  acquire and better facilities for the institute.  Facilities 
  1.16  that have been acquired or bettered in whole or in part with the 
  1.17  proceeds of state bonds must be owned by the city but may be 
  1.18  leased or managed by a nonprofit organization to carry out the 
  1.19  purposes of the institute program established by the city.  The 
  1.20  lease or management agreement must comply with the requirements 
  1.21  of new Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.695.
