  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; adding the commissioner of 
  1.3             agriculture to the board of directors of the 
  1.4             agricultural utilization research institute; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 116O.09, subdivision 
  1.6             1a. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 116O.09, 
  1.9   subdivision 1a, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 1a.  [BOARD OF DIRECTORS.] The board of directors of 
  1.11  the agricultural utilization research institute is comprised of: 
  1.12     (1) the chairs of the senate agriculture and rural 
  1.13  development committee and the house of representatives 
  1.14  agriculture committee; 
  1.15     (2) two representatives of statewide farm organizations; 
  1.16     (3) two representatives of agribusiness, one of whom is a 
  1.17  member of the Minnesota Technology, Inc. board representing 
  1.18  agribusiness; and 
  1.19     (4) three representatives of the commodity promotion 
  1.20  councils; and 
  1.21     (5) the commissioner of agriculture. 
  1.22     A member of the board of directors under clauses (1) to 
  1.23  (4) (5) may designate a permanent or temporary replacement 
  1.24  member representing the same constituency.
