A bill for an act
relating to gambling; prohibiting location of a state-operated or state-licensed
gambling facility in a city unless the voters of the city have approved the facility
in a referendum.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

For purposes of this section, "gambling facility" means
a facility operated or licensed by the state at which games commonly considered to be
casino games are conducted. Gambling facility does not include (1) a racetrack licensed
under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 240, or (2) a facility at which the only gambling
conducted is lawful gambling licensed under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 349.

No gambling facility may be located within a home rule
charter or statutory city unless the voters of the city have approved that use in the city at a
general election or a special election called for that purpose.
