  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; establishing a hog producer 
  1.3             assistance program; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [HOG PRODUCER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [PAYMENT RATE; MAXIMUM ASSISTANCE; 
  1.7   PRIORITY.] From funds appropriated for the purpose of this 
  1.8   section, the commissioner of agriculture shall provide payment 
  1.9   to hog producers at a rate of $10 multiplied by the number of 
  1.10  hogs eligible for assistance under the federal Farm Service 
  1.11  Agency, Small Hog Operation Program.  The maximum assistance 
  1.12  amount per person is $5,000.  
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] $....... is appropriated from 
  1.14  the general fund to the commissioner of agriculture for the hog 
  1.15  producer assistance program under subdivision 1.  Up to $....... 
  1.16  of the appropriation may be used for administrative costs of the 
  1.17  commissioner.  This appropriation is available until June 30, 
  1.18  2000.
