A bill for an act
 relating to veterans; appropriating money to administer the Gold Star Program;
appropriating money for compensating honor guards.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; GOLD STAR PROGRAM.

new text begin $100,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 to the
commissioner of veterans affairs to administer and implement the Gold Star Program for
surviving family members of deceased veterans.

Sec. 2. new text begin APPROPRIATION; HONOR GUARDS.
new text end

new text begin $200,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $200,000 in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated
from the general fund to the commissioner of veterans affairs for compensation for
honor guards at the funerals of veterans under Minnesota Statutes, section 197.231. This
appropriation is added to the agency's base budget.
