  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; creating an early childhood 
  1.3             technology grant program; appropriating money. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [EARLY CHILDHOOD TECHNOLOGY GRANTS.] 
  1.6      The commissioner of children, families, and learning shall 
  1.7   establish a process to initiate a competitive grant program to 
  1.8   enhance the use of technology in early childhood education 
  1.9   programs.  Priority must be given to early childhood family 
  1.10  education, learning readiness, Head Start, or first grade 
  1.11  preparedness programs housed in school sites that will provide 
  1.12  computer time to early childhood education programs. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.14     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.15  commissioner of children, families, and learning for early 
  1.16  childhood technology grants under section 1.
