  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to veterans affairs; creating a Korean war 
  1.3             veterans' memorial on the capitol mall; appropriating 
  1.4             money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL.] 
  1.7      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   capitol area architecture and planning board to create a 
  1.9   Minnesota Korean war veterans' memorial on the capitol mall.  
  1.10  This appropriation is available until expended. 
  1.11     In creating the memorial, the board may accept money from 
  1.12  nonstate sources.  The board shall select a site for the 
  1.13  memorial and conduct a selection process to award the contracts 
  1.14  for design and construction of the memorial.  No contract for 
  1.15  construction shall be entered into by the board until sufficient 
  1.16  funds are available to complete the construction of the memorial 
  1.17  and the board has received recommendations on the cost, design, 
  1.18  and placement of the memorial from the chairs of the house 
  1.19  appropriations and senate finance committees.
