  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; modifying designation of the 
  1.3             George Mann memorial highway; designating the Augie 
  1.4             Mueller and Don Rickers memorial highways; designating 
  1.5             the Ruby L. Hughes Boulevard; amending Minnesota 
  1.6             Statutes 1996, section 161.14, subdivision 21, and by 
  1.7             adding subdivisions. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 161.14, 
  1.10  subdivision 21, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 21.  [GEORGE MANN MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.] That segment of 
  1.12  marked trunk highway No. 60 from Mankato to Worthington Brewster 
  1.13  is named and designated the "George Mann Memorial Highway."  The 
  1.14  commissioner shall adopt a suitable marking design to mark this 
  1.15  highway and shall erect the appropriate signs. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 161.14, is 
  1.17  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.18     Subd. 40.  [AUGIE MUELLER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.] Marked trunk 
  1.19  highway No. 5 from its intersection with highway 101 in or near 
  1.20  Chanhassen southwesterly to its intersection with marked trunk 
  1.21  highway No. 19 in or near Gaylord is designated "Augie Mueller 
  1.22  Memorial Highway."  The commissioner of transportation shall 
  1.23  adopt a suitable marking design to mark this highway and erect 
  1.24  appropriate signs.  The people of the community, having resolved 
  1.25  to support and financially back the marking of this highway, 
  1.26  shall reimburse the department for costs incurred in marking and 
  2.1   memorializing this highway. 
  2.2      Sec. 3.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 161.14, is 
  2.3   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  2.4      Subd. 41.  [DON RICKERS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.] That segment of 
  2.5   marked trunk highway No. 60 from Brewster to Worthington to the 
  2.6   city of Brewster is designated "Don Rickers Memorial Highway."  
  2.7   The commissioner of transportation shall adopt a suitable design 
  2.8   for marking this highway and shall erect appropriate signs at 
  2.9   locations determined by the commissioner.  The people of the 
  2.10  community, having resolved to support and financially back the 
  2.11  marking of this highway, shall reimburse the department for 
  2.12  costs incurred in marking and memorializing this highway. 
  2.13     Sec. 4.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 161.14, is 
  2.14  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  2.15     Subd. 42.  [RUBY L. HUGHES BOULEVARD.] The north frontage 
  2.16  road just off Olson Memorial Highway, from its intersection with 
  2.17  Logan Avenue North and Morgan Avenue North in the city of 
  2.18  Minneapolis, is designated "Ruby L. Hughes Boulevard" subject to 
  2.19  section 161.139.  The commissioner of transportation shall adopt 
  2.20  a suitable marking design to mark this road and erect 
  2.21  appropriate signs.  The people of the community, having resolved 
  2.22  to support and financially back the marking of this road, shall 
  2.23  reimburse the department for costs incurred in marking and 
  2.24  memorializing this road.
