  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to agriculture; providing funding for the 
  1.3             bovine paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) program; 
  1.4             appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; JOHNE'S DISEASE.] 
  1.7      $350,000 in fiscal year 2002 and $350,000 in fiscal year 
  1.8   2003 from the general fund are appropriated to the board of 
  1.9   animal health for a program to control paratuberculosis (Johne's 
  1.10  disease) in domestic bovine herds.  $250,000 each year is for 
  1.11  increased activities of the board to control Johne's disease.  
  1.12  $100,000 each year is for a grant to the University of 
  1.13  Minnesota, college of veterinary medicine for research on 
  1.14  diagnostic testing for Johne's disease.  If the appropriation 
  1.15  for either year is insufficient, the appropriation for the other 
  1.16  year is available.  This appropriation is available until June 
  1.17  30, 2003.
