1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; allowing a contracted 1.3 alternative school to receive additional revenue; 1.4 amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 124D.69, 1.5 subdivision 1. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 124D.69, 1.8 subdivision 1, is amended to read: 1.9 Subdivision 1. [AID.] If a pupil enrolls in an alternative 1.10 program, eligible under section 124D.68, subdivision 3, 1.11 paragraph (d), or subdivision 4, operated by a private 1.12 organization that has contracted with a school district to 1.13 provide educational services for eligible pupils under section 1.14 124D.68, subdivision 2, thedistrict contracting with the1.15private organization must reimburse the provider an amount equal1.16to at least 90 percent of the district's average general1.17education less basic skills revenue per pupil unit times the1.18number of pupil units for pupils attending the program. Basic1.19skills revenue shall be paid according to section 126C.10,1.20subdivision 4. Compensatory revenue must be allocated according1.21to section 126C.15, subdivision 2program must receive revenue 1.22 and aids as though it were a charter school under section 1.23 124D.11. For a pupil attending the program part time, the 1.24 revenue paid to the program must be reduced proportionately, 1.25 according to the amount of time the pupil attends the program, 2.1 and revenue paid tothea district shall be reduced 2.2 accordingly. Pupils for whom a district provides reimbursement 2.3 may not be counted by the district for any purpose other than 2.4 computation of general education revenue. If payment is made to 2.5 adistrict orprogram for a pupil under this section, the 2.6 department must not make a payment for the same pupil under 2.7 section 124D.68, subdivision 9.
