  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to tax increment financing; allowing the city 
  1.3             of East Grand Forks to extend the duration of a tax 
  1.4             increment financing district. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EAST GRAND FORKS; TIF EXTENSION.] 
  1.7      The governing body of the city of East Grand Forks may 
  1.8   extend the duration of tax increment financing district number 2 
  1.9   (Gateway East) by up to 12 additional years.  The district 
  1.10  terminates no later than the end of calendar year 2012. 
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.12     Section 1 is effective upon compliance by the governing 
  1.13  body of the city of East Grand Forks with the provisions of 
  1.14  Minnesota Statutes, sections 469.1782, subdivision 2; and 
  1.15  645.021.
