A bill for an act
relating to retirement; volunteer firefighter relief associations; state supplemental
aid; clarification of aid eligibility qualifications; amending Minnesota Statutes
2006, section 424A.10, subdivision 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 424A.10, subdivision 3, is amended to
read:


Subd. 3.

State reimbursement.

(a) By February 15 of each year, the treasurer of
the relief association shall apply to the commissioner of revenue for state reimbursement
of the amount of supplemental benefits paid under subdivision 2 during the preceding
calendar year. By March 15new text begin ,new text end the commissioner shall reimburse the relief association for
the amount of the supplemental benefits paid to qualified recipientsnew text begin and to survivors of
deceased active or deferred volunteer firefighters

(b) The commissioner of revenue shall prescribe the form of and supporting
information that must be supplied as part of the application for state reimbursement.

(c) The reimbursement payment must be deposited in the special fund of the relief
association.

(d) A sum sufficient to make the payments is appropriated from the general fund
to the commissioner of revenue.
