  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the legislature; prohibiting the conduct 
  1.3             of legislative business at certain times related to 
  1.4             the opening of the season for taking walleye; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 3.011. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 3.011, is 
  1.8   amended to read: 
  1.9      3.011 [SESSIONS.] 
  1.10     (a) The legislature shall meet at the seat of government on 
  1.11  the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January of each 
  1.12  odd-numbered year.  When the first Monday in January falls on 
  1.13  January 1, it shall meet on the first Wednesday after the first 
  1.14  Monday.  It shall also meet when called by the governor to meet 
  1.15  in special session.  
  1.16     (b) The legislature may not meet from noon on the Friday 
  1.17  before the first day of the open season for taking walleye under 
  1.18  section 97C.395, subdivision 1, clause (1), until 8:00 a.m. the 
  1.19  following Monday. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
