  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to higher education; requiring the higher 
  1.3             education services office to study credit transfer 
  1.4             policies of public higher education systems in certain 
  1.5             states. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [HIGHER EDUCATION SERVICES OFFICE; STUDY.] 
  1.8      The higher education services office shall conduct a study 
  1.9   of credit transfer policies of public higher education 
  1.10  institutions in states with which Minnesota has a tuition 
  1.11  reciprocity agreement.  The study shall:  (i) include an 
  1.12  analysis of how credit transfer policies are applied in 
  1.13  reciprocity states as compared to how they are applied in 
  1.14  Minnesota public higher education systems; and (ii) report on 
  1.15  the number of credits accepted in reciprocity states for 
  1.16  Minnesota students compared with the credits accepted at 
  1.17  Minnesota institutions for students from reciprocity states.  
  1.18  The office shall report to the higher education budget divisions 
  1.19  of the legislature by February 1, 2002, on the results of this 
  1.20  study.
