  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic security; appropriating money for 
  1.3             youth intervention program grants. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; YOUTH INTERVENTION PROGRAMS.] 
  1.6      $1,450,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of economic security to expand funding for youth 
  1.8   intervention programs established under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.9   section 268.30, subdivisions 1 and 2.  Funding may be used to 
  1.10  expand existing programs to serve unmet needs or to create new 
  1.11  programs in underserved areas of the state.  The appropriation 
  1.12  is available until spent and is added to the budget base.  Three 
  1.13  percent of the total appropriation for youth intervention 
  1.14  programs must be spent on administration, training, and 
  1.15  technical assistance.  One percent of the total appropriation 
  1.16  for youth intervention programs is for a grant to the Minnesota 
  1.17  Youth Intervention Programs Association (YIPA) to provide 
  1.18  collaborative training and technical assistance to 
  1.19  community-based grantees of the program.
