  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to criminal justice; criminal records 
  1.3             expungement; expanding the kinds of convictions for 
  1.4             which a petition expungement may be brought; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 609A.02, subdivision 
  1.6             2. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 609A.02, 
  1.9   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [JUVENILES PROSECUTED AS ADULTS; OTHER 
  1.11  CONVICTIONS.] A petition for the sealing of a conviction record 
  1.12  may be filed under section 609A.03 by: 
  1.13     (a) a person who has been committed to the custody of the 
  1.14  commissioner of corrections upon conviction of a crime following 
  1.15  certification to district court under section 260B.125, if the 
  1.16  person: 
  1.17     (1) is finally discharged by the commissioner; or 
  1.18     (2) has been placed on probation by the court under section 
  1.19  609.135 and has been discharged from probation after 
  1.20  satisfactory fulfillment of it; or 
  1.21     (b) a person who has been convicted of any offense except: 
  1.22     (1) an offense specified in subdivision 4; or 
  1.23     (2) an offense for which the record is required to be 
  1.24  retained by a statute other than this chapter.
