  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the city of Afton; authorizing the city to 
  1.3             provide for expiration of a certain parcel of land 
  1.4             from a metropolitan agricultural preserve at an 
  1.5             earlier date. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [CITY OF AFTON; EARLY TERMINATION OF 
  1.8   AGRICULTURAL PRESERVE.] 
  1.9      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 473H.08 and 
  1.10  473H.09, providing for the duration and early termination of a 
  1.11  metropolitan agricultural preserve, the city of Afton may 
  1.12  initiate expiration of a parcel of land from an agricultural 
  1.13  preserve for which the landowner has previously initiated 
  1.14  expiration under Minnesota Statutes, section 473H.08, 
  1.15  subdivision 2, located in the city of Afton, Washington county, 
  1.16  and described as:  
  1.17     the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 
  1.18  29, Township 28 North, Range 20 West of the Fourth Principal 
  1.19  Meridian. 
  1.20     The effective date of the expiration may be on any date 
  1.21  after the effective date of this section as determined by the 
  1.22  Afton city council, once the council has otherwise complied with 
  1.23  the procedural requirements of Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.24  473H.04 and 473H.08.  All benefits accruing to the parcel as an 
  1.25  agricultural preserve, including benefits relating to the 
  2.1   valuation and assessment of the parcel for ad valorem property 
  2.2   taxes under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 273, and section 
  2.3   473H.10, shall cease on the date of expiration.  
  2.4      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.5      Section 1 is effective without local approval on the day 
  2.6   following final enactment.
