  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to government data practices; providing data 
  1.3             privacy for certain public utility customer data; 
  1.4             proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.5             chapter 13. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [13.612] [MUNICIPAL UTILITY CUSTOMER DATA.] 
  1.8      Data on customers of municipal electric utilities are 
  1.9   private data on individuals or nonpublic data, but may be 
  1.10  released to: 
  1.11     (1) a law enforcement agency that requests access to the 
  1.12  data in connection with an investigation; 
  1.13     (2) a school for purposes of compiling pupil census data; 
  1.14  or 
  1.15     (3) the metropolitan council for use in studies or analyses 
  1.16  required by law.
