  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; providing for contributions 
  1.3             for emergency deer feeding; establishing a free deer 
  1.4             license for contributors; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [DEER FEEDING CONTRIBUTIONS; APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      Until May 1, 1997, the commissioner of natural resources 
  1.8   may accept contributions for the emergency feeding of deer in 
  1.9   1997.  All money received under this section is appropriated to 
  1.10  the commissioner for emergency feeding and is in addition to 
  1.11  money appropriated in Laws 1995, chapter 220, section 5, 
  1.12  subdivision 7, and Laws 1996, chapter 294, section 2.  The 
  1.13  commissioner shall record the contributions and issue receipts 
  1.14  to persons who contribute under this section. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [FREE RESIDENT DEER LICENSE FOR CONTRIBUTORS.] 
  1.16     The commissioner of natural resources shall issue one deer 
  1.17  license for the 1997 season under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.18  97A.475, subdivision 2, clause (4) or (5), at no cost to a 
  1.19  resident who contributes at least $50 under section 1 and 
  1.20  applies to the commissioner for the license.  The commissioner 
  1.21  must include an application for the license when the receipt of 
  1.22  contribution is issued to a resident who contributes at least 
  1.23  $50 under section 1. 
  1.24     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.25     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
