  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to criminal justice; permitting courts to 
  1.3             impose consecutive sentences for certain repeat 
  1.4             offenders; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 
  1.5             609.1095, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 609.1095, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [PERMISSIVE CONSECUTIVE SENTENCES FOR OFFENDERS 
  1.10  WITH SIX OR MORE CRIMINAL HISTORY POINTS.] If a person is 
  1.11  convicted of a felony and the person has six or more criminal 
  1.12  history points, the judge may impose and execute a sentence that 
  1.13  is consecutive to any other sentence that the offender is 
  1.14  required to serve.
