  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to motor vehicles; exempting certain 
  1.3             snowplows from registration taxes; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 168.012, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 168.012, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 3b.  [SNOWPLOWS.] Vehicles that have a gross weight 
  1.10  exceeding 26,000 pounds; that are owned by, or under contract 
  1.11  with, a town to provide snow removal services; that are operated 
  1.12  by drivers employed seasonally or temporarily for that purpose; 
  1.13  and that are used exclusively as snowplows, are exempt from the 
  1.14  provisions of this chapter.
