  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to public safety; appropriating money to 
  1.3             commissioner of public safety to be added to fiscal 
  1.4             year 2003 allocation to public safety officer's 
  1.5             benefit account for death benefits and continued 
  1.6             health insurance coverage; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.7             2002, section 299A.465, subdivision 4. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 299A.465, 
  1.10  subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 4.  [PUBLIC EMPLOYER REIMBURSEMENT.] A public 
  1.12  employer subject to this section may annually apply to the 
  1.13  commissioner of public safety for reimbursement of its costs of 
  1.14  complying with this section.  The commissioner shall provide 
  1.15  reimbursement to the public employer out of the public safety 
  1.16  officer's benefit account. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.18     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.19  commissioner of public safety for fiscal year 2003 to be added 
  1.20  to the amount deposited in the public safety officer's benefit 
  1.21  account in fiscal year 2003 under Laws 2001, First Special 
  1.22  Session chapter 8, article 1, section 4, subdivision 2, 
  1.23  paragraph (b), for continued health insurance coverage 
  1.24  reimbursements under Minnesota Statutes, section 299A.465. 
  1.25     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.26  following final enactment.
