  1.2             relating to education; permitting school boards to 
  1.3             begin the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 school years before 
  1.4             Labor Day. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [EXEMPTION TO SCHOOL START RESTRICTION.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 126.12, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, for the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 school years 
  1.9   only, a school board may begin the elementary or secondary 
  1.10  school year on the Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday prior to Labor 
  1.11  Day.
