  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to railroads; imposing penalty for 
  1.3             trespassing on railroad track; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 609.85, subdivision 6. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 609.85, 
  1.7   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 6.  [ALLOWING TRESPASS BY PERSONS OR ANIMALS ON 
  1.9   TRACK.] Whoever A person who intentionally trespasses, or who 
  1.10  intentionally permits animals under the person's control to 
  1.11  trespass, on a railroad track is guilty of a misdemeanor.  This 
  1.12  subdivision shall not apply to a union representative of the 
  1.13  railroad employees, acting in an official capacity, or to a 
  1.14  person with written permission of the railroad company to enter 
  1.15  upon the railroad track. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective for violations committed after July 
  1.18  31, 2001.
