  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to employment; providing for the protection 
  1.3             of benefits for certain technical college employees. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [CERTAIN TECHNICAL COLLEGE EMPLOYEES; 
  1.6   PROTECTION OF BENEFITS.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, 
  1.8   a person who is employed by a technical college or the technical 
  1.9   college system, and who filed a retirement notice prior to July 
  1.10  1, 1995, to retire in the following year, is entitled to the 
  1.11  benefits provided in the applicable technical college contract.  
  1.12  These benefits include severance pay, health insurance, and 
  1.13  other benefits described in the contract.  The merger of the 
  1.14  community colleges, state universities, and technical colleges 
  1.15  has no effect on these benefits.
