1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, 1.3 article VII, section 6; proposing lowering the age of 1.4 eligibility to hold office. 1.5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSED.] 1.7 An amendment to the Minnesota Constitution is proposed to 1.8 the people. 1.9 If the amendment is adopted, article VII, section 6, will 1.10 read: 1.11 Sec. 6. Every person who by the provisions of this article 1.12 is entitled to vote at any electionand is 21 years of ageis 1.13 eligible for any office elective by the people in the district 1.14 whereinhethat person has resided 30 days previous to the 1.15 election, except as otherwise provided in this constitution, or 1.16 the constitution and law of the United States. 1.17 Sec. 2. [BALLOT QUESTION; SCHEDULE.] 1.18 The proposed amendment shall be submitted to the people at 1.19 the 2002 general election. The question submitted shall be: 1.20 "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to reduce the 1.21 age of eligibility for holding office from 21 to 18 years of age? 1.22 Yes ....... 1.23 No ........"
