  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to crime prevention; providing for community 
  1.3             notification for certain high-risk juvenile predatory 
  1.4             offenders; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.5             244.052, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 244.052, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITIONS.] As used in this section: 
  1.10     (1) "confinement" means confinement in a state correctional 
  1.11  facility or a state treatment facility; 
  1.12     (2) "law enforcement agency" means the law enforcement 
  1.13  agency having primary jurisdiction over the location where the 
  1.14  offender expects to reside upon release; 
  1.15     (3) "residential facility" means a facility that is 
  1.16  licensed as a residential program, as defined in section 
  1.17  245A.02, subdivision 14, by the commissioner of human services 
  1.18  under chapter 245A, or the commissioner of corrections under 
  1.19  section 241.021, whose staff are trained in the supervision of 
  1.20  sex offenders; and 
  1.21     (4) "predatory offender" and "offender" mean a person who 
  1.22  is required to register as a predatory offender under section 
  1.23  243.166.  However, the terms do not include persons required to 
  1.24  register based solely on a delinquency adjudication but do 
  1.25  include persons adjudicated delinquent for an offense for which 
  2.1   registration under section 243.166 is required, if the offender 
  2.2   was committed to the custody of the commissioner of corrections 
  2.3   and released from custody only because the commissioner's 
  2.4   jurisdiction over the offender expired according to statute. 
  2.5      Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.6      Section 1 is effective January 1, 2002, and applies to 
  2.7   offenses committed on or after that date.
