A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for transition and
employment services for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind individuals.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) $360,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $360,000 in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated
from the workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic
development for a grant to Intermediate School District No. 287 for the purpose of
providing specialized culturally and linguistically appropriate transition services that lead
to employment for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind students.

(b) $300,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $300,000 in fiscal year 2015 from the workforce
development fund and $100,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $100,000 in fiscal year 2015 from
the general fund are appropriated to the commissioner of employment and economic
development for a grant under Minnesota Statutes, section 268A.03, to Rise, Inc., for the
purpose of providing employment services for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

(c) $50,000 in fiscal year 2014 and $50,000 in fiscal year 2015 are appropriated from
the workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic
development for a statewide pilot training program to provide specialized culturally
and linguistically appropriate transition services that lead to employment for deaf,
hard-of-hearing, and deafblind students.
