A bill for an act
relating to local government; allowing local governments to distribute coronavirus
relief fund dollars to individuals, private businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin TEMPORARY AUTHORITY TO DISTRIBUTE CORONAVIRUS
RELIEF FUNDS.

new text begin A home rule charter or statutory city, county, or town receiving a distribution from the
coronavirus relief federal fund may provide these funds as assistance grants directly to
individual persons, private businesses, nonprofit entities, and any other entities for any use
of the funds authorized under Public Law 116-136.

new text begin This section is effective retroactively for assistance grants provided
by a home rule charter or statutory city, county, or town after February 29, 2020, and expires
December 30, 2020.
