  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to telecommunications; regulating promotions 
  1.3             and packages of telephone company services; proposing 
  1.4             coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 237; 
  1.5             repealing Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 237.626. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [237.627] [PROMOTIONS AND SERVICE PACKAGES.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [PROMOTION ACTIVITIES.] A telephone company 
  1.9   may promote its services in any reasonable manner including, but 
  1.10  not limited to, offering a waiver of part or all of a recurring 
  1.11  or a nonrecurring charge, a redemption coupon, or a premium with 
  1.12  the purchase of a service. 
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [PACKAGES OF SERVICES.] A telephone company may 
  1.14  establish or change the prices, terms, or conditions for any 
  1.15  package of services, special incentive, discount, temporary 
  1.16  price waiver, or other promotion, or withdraw or terminate the 
  1.17  offering of a package of services, special incentive, discount, 
  1.18  temporary price waiver, or other promotion at any time. 
  1.19     Subd. 3.  [APPLICABILITY.] A telephone company subject to 
  1.20  an approved alternative form of regulation plan may elect to 
  1.21  promote and package its services as authorized by this section. 
  1.22     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.23  following final enactment. 
  1.24     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.25     Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 237.626, is repealed, 
  2.1   effective the day following final enactment.
