  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to regulated professions; adding two members 
  1.3             to the board of electricity; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1996, section 326.241, subdivision 1. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 326.241, 
  1.7   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [COMPOSITION.] The board of electricity 
  1.9   shall consist of 11 13 members, residents of the state, 
  1.10  appointed by the governor of whom at least two shall be 
  1.11  representatives of the electrical suppliers in the rural areas 
  1.12  of the state, two shall be master electricians, who shall be 
  1.13  contractors, two journeyman electricians, one registered 
  1.14  consulting electrical engineer, two licensed alarm and 
  1.15  communication system contractors engaged in the business of 
  1.16  installing alarm and communication systems, one full-time 
  1.17  electrical inspector employed by or under contract with a local 
  1.18  unit of government, one electrical inspector under contract with 
  1.19  the board, and two public members as defined by section 214.02.  
  1.20  Membership terms, compensation of members, removal of members, 
  1.21  the filling of membership vacancies, and fiscal year and 
  1.22  reporting requirements shall be as provided in sections 214.07 
  1.23  to 214.09.  The provision of staff, administrative services and 
  1.24  office space; the review and processing of complaints; the 
  1.25  setting of board fees; and other provisions relating to board 
  2.1   operations shall be as provided in chapter 214.
